No militants were present at the site, and no arrests have been made. The cave is suspected to have been used as a hideout to conceal the stores. The area falls in the Sajwan sector of Surankote, in the border district of Poonch along the Line of Control. Some reports say the operation involved the Rashtriya Rifles battalion of the Surankote sector.
Separate search operations were also under way in the higher reaches of Majalta and Billawar in the Udhampur and Kathua districts after reports of suspicious movement. Army troops, including para commandos, and police are involved, and no contact has been reported so far. In the Basoni area of Poonch's Mendhar sector, troops also detected and safely destroyed two rusted landmines near the border fence during track construction work.
